NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS
We are starting a new year so we thought it would be fun to reach out to our board members and see if they have an new year’s resolutions they would be willing to share. Here they are!
Cathy Duchesne (President):
My own personal experience, upon moving to live in the Seba area, showed me that people in this community are welcoming, generous, friendly, and helpful. Now, years later, I intend to work hard to pay it forward. I know it can be a challenge to reach out, join in community life, and feel a sense of belonging. I know that it is critical to everyone’s health and well-being to be a part of something bigger than oneself. I know that everyone matters. I know it can happen in places like Seba where everyone works to build a community that is inclusive, diverse, and vibrant.
Ingrid Butler-Sieben (Vice President):
My resolution is to enjoy the outdoors more and be intentionally active wherever possible. Also to say “yes” more to new adventures!
Tracey Stewart (Communications Director):
I was thinking to myself this Christmas…what would people say about me when I’m gone?? And the answer is, I want people to say that I cared about those around me and made an impact on my community. So my resolution is to have more empathy by listening to the voices of this community, and where possible, within the means of this position of Communications, send out positive and encouraging stories/messages of this community!
This picture is of Elva who is 93 years old! We visited her on one of our trips to the city for Christmas shopping. She is a friend of my mother-in-law and we haven’t seen her for over a year. She was so happy to see us and visit with us. This is also how I can make an impact…helping those less fortunate than me!
