Seba Seniors Annual General Meeting

  • Each board member will share their accomplishments from the past year

  • The Board and Ingrid, our President, will share plans for the upcoming year

  • Our Outreach Project Co-ordinator, Wendy, will be presenting on the Pan-Canadian Grant exciting project

  • Our Audited Financial Statement will be available for review

  • The board will share more information around the 50th anniversary celebrations planned for later this year

VOLUNTEER BOARD POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Do you have strong social and leadership skills?  Enjoy working as part of a small team? Want to influence the development of a critical regional non-profit community support organization?  We need your help! We are a dynamic and fun group of dedicated individuals who offer a unique approach to our board roles to support Seba Seniors’ continued success.

We are looking for volunteers for the following positions on our Board of Directors. If you want to help create a lasting legacy for our community by volunteering for one of these board positions, or if you have any questions and would like more information, please email president@sebaseniors.ca with Board Position in the subject line, or contact Ingrid at 780-720-3268.

THRIFT SHOP MANAGER

Duties:
As an Officer of the board, the Thrift Shop Manager has the role in overseeing the operations of the Thrift Shop and its various buildings, including volunteer organization and interaction with the public. Duties include monthly income reporting, handling of deposits, liaising with various other charity organizations for disbursement of items,  management of process controls and procedures considering the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, and all other duties related to a Thrift Shop. 
Skills:
If you have a background in retail sales, operational organization, volunteer coordination, along with attention to detail, this position is for you!
Time Commitment:
Historical time commitment is approximately 40 hrs/month or 10 hours/week.  The role is primarily in support of Thrift Shop hours of operation (Wednesdays & Saturdays from 10 am —3 pm). This is a role where there are many helping hands to assist with the duties, so if team collaboration is your thing, this role is for you!

SECRETARY

Duties:
As a member of the board, the Secretary has a responsibility to schedule board meetings, create board meeting agendas, capture minutes, maintain accurate records, and ensure document filing is organized.  Other duties include completing the Annual Notice of Change to Directors and the annual AGM meeting agenda and minutes.

Skills:
If you have a communicative personality, are detail-oriented, have experience with Boards, Google Workspace, Google Docs, etc, are organized, and have a strong attention to detail, this position is for you! Don’t worry if you don’t have all the experience listed above; we are a welcoming and open organization. 

Time Commitment:
Historical time commitment is approximately 14 hrs/month.  The role is primarily in support of monthly board meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM).  There is plenty of lead time for completion of duties, so the position can adjust to your schedule and that of the board. 

MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR

Duties:
As a member of the board, the Maintenance Director is responsible for coordinating the regular maintenance and cleaning of the Seba Seniors buildings and grounds, minor and major repairs, and upgrades as needed. A variety of skilled contractors and volunteers are involved in ensuring the Seba Seniors is well maintained, clean, safe, and in compliance with government requirements.  The Maintenance Director will also participate in Board Meetings and Board Activities.

Skills:
Must have a communicative personality, be detail-oriented, familiar with maintaining a home, and have experience with Word, Excel, etc. Also, a basic understanding of Google Workspace would also be an asset, but if not, the Seba Seniors team is willing to train. If you have the above skills or are willing to learn, are organized, and have a strong attention to detail, this position is for you!

Time Commitment:
Historical time commitment is approximately 14 hrs/month and the position can adjust to your schedule and that of the board.  All terms are a minimum of 2 years.
