Board Member – President

The Board President is responsible for leading the board and guiding the overall direction of our organization. This means setting strategic goals, inspiring board members to work together, and ensuring that every meeting is productive and on track. Both our current President, Cathie Duschene and our Past President, Gene McMullen will be available to help the incoming Board President to train and provide support.
Here are some key skills and duties of the Board President:
- Strong Leadership: Guide the board by setting clear goals and inspiring teamwork, making sure everyone is working toward our shared mission.
- Effective Communication: Clearly share ideas, lead discussions, and ensure all voices are heard so that decisions are made collaboratively.
- Thoughtful Decision-Making: Make fair, informed decisions that support the organization’s mission, always weighing the benefits and risks.
- Commitment to the Organization: Show passion for our work and dedicate yourself to helping our organization grow and succeed.
- Computer Knowledge: Must have own computer/laptop and should be comfortable using basic computer programs.
- Team Orientation: Work closely with board members, staff, and the community to build strong relationships and a cooperative environment.
- Financial Acumen: Oversee budgeting and financial management to help maintain the organization’s stability and growth.
- Governance Knowledge: Understand board rules, policies, and ethical responsibilities to ensure our board operates smoothly and transparently.
- Conflict Resolution: Handle disagreements respectfully and constructively, keeping a positive and professional atmosphere.
- Future Planning: Think ahead to ensure that our organization is set up for long-term success.
- Public Speaking: Represent the organization confidently at events, meetings, and in the community.
TIME COMMITMENT
- 10-15 hours per week
- 1 monthly board meeting
