A MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARD PRESIDENT
As we look forward to longer days and the promise of spring, I hope you’ve enjoyed the beauty of this past winter. Alberta certainly kept us on our toes with its cold snaps and icy days, but those bright bluebird mornings—when the snow sparkles like diamonds—make it worthwhile.
It’s been a busy season at the Seba Seniors Centre. Our programs continue to grow, with new additions like Not Falling for You workshops, Indoor Golf Lessons, and Tai Chi joining our long-standing favourites. Thank you to everyone who has participated, volunteered, or supported these activities—your involvement keeps our community thriving!
Save the Date – AGM on May 7
Our Annual General Meeting will take place on May 7, followed by light snacks and time to visit. More details to come.
We anticipate three Board openings this year. If you’re interested in joining our Seba Seniors board in these positions, please speak with a Board member before the AGM, or email president@sebaseniors.ca
- Secretary: manages agendas, minutes, and governance
- Maintenance: oversees building upkeep and facility projects
- Thrift Shop Lead: coordinates operations and volunteers
A special thank you to Mary deVries, who stepped down as Social Committee Leader in January. Mary, your dedication and creativity shaped many memorable events, and we are truly grateful. To those stepping away, thank you for your service. And to those joining or continuing—including Kim Darby and Diane Lucas—we look forward to an exciting 2026.
Celebrating 50 Years in 2026
This year marks Seba Seniors’ 50th Anniversary—a milestone built by generations of volunteers and supporters. We’ll be sharing stories and celebration details throughout the year. We are planning some exciting things this year to celebrate this legacy! Keep tuned…
Cora’s Coffee Corner Gets a Face Lift
If you haven’t visited Cora’s Coffee Corner in the Thrift Shop, we invite you to come sit a spell. A cherished part of Seba Seniors’ beginnings 50 years ago, this cozy nook has been refreshed with a lovely new look. Enjoy a cup of coffee and a sweet treat—just as Cora intended all those years ago. All proceeds support the Seba Library.
Pan-Canadian Grant Partnership
We’re pleased to join the Pan-Canadian Grant initiative alongside West Edmonton Seniors and other organizations. Wendy Hildebrandt will represent our community as the Outreach Project Coordinator, and we’re excited about the opportunities this brings to not only our Seba Seniors, but seniors in surrounding communities.
Stay connected by following our Seba Seniors Official Facebook page and on our website, www. sebaseniors.ca—we have many meaningful activities planned for our seniors.
“Community is much more than belonging to something; it’s about doing something together that makes belonging matter.” — Brian Solis
