Bridge At Seba Seniors: a Year in Review

What a year our Bridge group had in 2024!

Seba Seniors Bridge has been gradually expanding over the years. Last year 16 players met on Thursday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Melmoth Lounge for an afternoon of friendly bridge. We usually had 2-3 tables of keen players.  Coffee and treats were included!

In 2024, Roy Berg held the title for Most Weekly Wins! Way to go Roy! And Fred Lemieux achieved the highest weekly score of 5860! That’s impressive.

In the summer, our bridge players organized the 17th Annual Bridge at the Beach Tournament, a fundraiser for the Seba Heritage Museum. 40 participants enjoyed a day of bridge, a delicious lunch and prizes donated by local organizations and individuals.

In the fall, Pat McCoy taught a crash course in Beginner Bridge to 5 participants. And, although feeling slightly overwhelmed with the rules of bidding, some of the “newbies” have now braved joining the weekly group for continuing support. They found out we really are a friendly group, and we are excited about having new players join us.

Our survey showed that there are others interested in learning the fundamentals of bridge so we hope to offer another beginner course in the spring/summer. In the meantime, we welcome any bridge players out there who are interested in joining us.
