THRIFT SHOP VOLUNTEER

COME VOLUNTEER WITH US!

Our thrift shop is looking for volunteers!

Did you know our thrift shop has 2 different areas where you can volunteer?

  1. Our main thrift shop is where we have some amazing finds like clothing, jewelry,  linens,  notions, small housewares, books, and more.  We also have 2 other areas:
  2. Our sorting and receiving area includes two outbuildings, the garage and the old firehall, where you will find furniture, lamps, sporting goods, small appliances, decorating items, handyman tools, and lots more.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Normally people come to our main sorting building.  If you are working in the donation drop off you:

  • may be helping unload the donations from people’s vehicles.  This would be bags, boxes, and helping with some heavier items
  • will be taking the donations into the sorting area for pricing, distribution, and display in the appropriate retail area.

If you are working in the thrift shop area you may be:

  • sorting the clothing, notions, and linens, to see items suitable for sale in our store or items to be sent to other organizations that may be able to use them
  • pricing and organizing the items that will be on display in the thrift shop
  • tidying items in the store, helping with bagging the items that people have purchased
  • helping customers with their questions and selections

TIME COMMITMENT

  • One  2 ½ hour regular shift each week however volunteers are welcome to take on additional regular shifts or cover shifts for other volunteers who may be away

LOTS OF HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!

One thing we hear all the time is that our volunteers love the social aspect of volunteering with us. We are looking for:
  • a few volunteers working together to sort  and price our items and then
  • each of you will take turns popping out into our main thrift shop area to help with tidying, greeting clients, and assisting the cashier as needed.

TIME COMMITMENTS
If you are working inside, ideally, you are:
  • able to commit to at least one shift per week and
  • you will schedule your shifts 2 months in advance to help us make sure we have enough volunteers each week.

SATURDAYS
With winter soon arriving, lots of our volunteers are no longer going to available. This means we need some more help with our Saturdays. If you can spare a couple of hours on a Saturday, we would appreciate your help. We would like to develop a list of those people willing to do an occasional shift when needed.

COME TRY IT OUT!
We know sometimes people want to help out but they are not sure if it is a good fit for them. If you want to do a try-it day, we would be happy to show you what we do at the shop and how you can help out. If you are interested in a try-it day or have questions about volunteering, please call Lynn Berg at 780 907-5267
