Our Seba Seniors Quilters & Fibre Arts have done it again!

Did you know…

Each year, our Seba Seniors Quilting group spends one day a month creating beautiful handmade items to give to those in need. Last year, they donated 13 quilts to Little Warriors—an incredible gift made with love.

A QUILTED HUG

For 2025, the group chose to make Quilted Hugs, inspired by a project they had read about that began in the United States. The idea resonated deeply with them, as Quilted Hugs is a pay-it-forward initiative. The originators encourage that the hugs not be made for sale, believing it would take away from the spirit of giving a heartfelt gift of love. For this very reason, the Quilting Group felt it was the perfect project for them.

Longtime quilter Janeen, suggested donating their Quilted Hugs to the Good Samaritan-Pembina Village in Evansburg, where her father once lived. Many of the quilters also have loved ones who lived with dementia and used wheelchairs, and they felt these Quilted Hugs were ideal—providing comfort without getting caught in the wheelchair wheels.

18 QUILTED HUGS

With the Quilted Hugs completed in November, Joanne and Janeen—along with Tracey, the Seba Seniors Communications Director, who was there to document the handover—headed to Evansburg on December 4. There, they met with Amanda, the Clinical Site Manager at Pembina Village, and presented 18 Quilted Hugs to be shared with the residents. They were even able to personally gift three of them to residents Rosemary, Vera, and Val.

The most heartwarming moment of all came with one simple question: “Is this for me?”
“Yes ma’am… they sure are.”

Thank you to our incredible Seba Seniors Quilters & Fibre Arts for continuing to spread warmth, kindness, and comfort—just as their label proudly says “Made with Love”.
