Quilters and Fibre Artists’ Spring Retreat – It was a blast!
Our Seba Quilters group always looks forward to our bi-annual quilting retreats – Spring and Fall. This year, our spring retreat was no exception! Can you just imagine how wonderful it is to set up your machine for 3 days of creating with your best quilting friends? Then consider the luxury of having another friend, Peggy Ziegler, an honorary quilter, cook delectable meals for you while you sew!
This year, most of us worked on a block swap where sixteen of us created blocks with the theme of “houses or buildings.” After we swap our finished blocks, we’ll piece them together and end up with a quilt that contains blocks from our quilting friends.
One of our newer quilters, Pat Batten, has experience with several different sewing machines. She offered demonstrations on how to adjust tension on serging machines. She has also generously offered to prepare machined embroidery names to add to our swap blocks!
This time, Peggy served two amazing lunches featuring Italian Wedding Soup and Salad, and Quiche pie with sausages and hot cross buns. The Saturday dinner featured shepherd’s pie with lemon pie on a meringue crust for dessert. Of course her details and decor were fit for quilting Queens!
HOW TO JOIN THE SEBA QUILTERS GROUP
- Bring your machine and project every Wednesday from 10 to 3, in May Hall, Seba Seniors, Seba Beach
- Work on your own table. Members share information and inspire each other. If you are a beginner quilter, members will generously help you out.
- Once a month, the group works on quilts to give away for charity.
- Bring your own lunch and $2.00 (used for group expenses and charity material) each time you attend.
- Sounds like fun! You can sign up to join our retreats every spring and fall. The hall is provided by Seba Seniors and the cost of the food is shared by those attending.
