A message from our new Social Director, Kim Darby

That’s Amore – An Evening in Italy

What a wonderful evening we shared at That’s Amore – An Evening in Italy! As your new Social Director, I would like to introduce myself—Kim Darby—and say how excited I am to step into this role and be part of such a vibrant and supportive community. A heartfelt thank you to everyone for the warm welcome and support as I transition into this position.

This event was nearly sold out, with 78 of 80 tickets spoken for, and the energy in the hall reflected that enthusiasm. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and full of connection—everything we hope our events will be.

THANK YOUS

  • A very special thank you goes to our new cook, Diane Cantrell, whose meals were truly delicious. It was a feast thoroughly enjoyed by all.
  • Thank you to Doug Watts, our MC, who kept the evening flowing seamlessly, and to Roy Berg and Al deVries, who kept the bar running smoothly with a lovely selection of Italian wines. We also muchly appreciate Mary deVries, past Social Director, for her guidance and support during my transition into this role.
  • A big thank you to Diane Lucas, Program Director, for her help organizing and serving, and to Ingrid Bulter-Sieben, President, for welcoming everyone and opening the evening with a land acknowledgment. We are grateful to Gene McMullen, Past President, for setting up the sound system, and to John Lucas for capturing fun memories at the Photo Booth, which featured a beautiful Italian setting.
  • Thank you to our Social Committee volunteers for their help with setup and food preparation, and to everyone who contributed behind the scenes. If we have missed anyone, please know your efforts were sincerely appreciated.

Special recognition to Kaden and Kendra Scheideman for their outstanding work in the kitchen, managing clean-up—your help made a big difference.

IT REALLY WAS A WONDERFUL TIME!

The Italian side show and music created a relaxed and enjoyable ambiance throughout the evening. While our scheduled entertainer, Umberto, was unfortunately unable to attend, we look forward to welcoming him at our October dinner.
