A MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARD PRESIDENT

On behalf of Seba Seniors, I have two messages.  The first message is traditional but nonetheless heartfelt!  We wish everyone in Seba, the surrounding area and all of Parkland to have a wonderful holiday and the best New Year ever.  We are hoping for Peace in the world, strength in our communities and happiness in our families.  Seba Seniors wants to play a small part in making that happen!

Second, have you wondered why we have a long wavy string of lights across the front of our facility during the Holiday Season?

In 1995, Light Up Your Life Tri-Community Palliative/Hospice Care Society (https://www.lightupyourlifesociety.org) developed an annual campaign logo:

The “Wave of Hope” (Seba Beach) symbol was added to The “Dove of Hope” (City of Spruce Grove), and the “Tree of Hope” (Wabamun). The “Circle of Hope” (County of Parkland) completes the circle .

Since then, Seba Senior’s has participated in the campaign by making a donation each year and by collecting cash in a donation box at our Thrift Shop. Donations will continue to be accepted through the Seba Seniors Thrift Shop until the end of the season.  Our wavy lights are our Wave of Hope!

WAVE OF HOPE AT SEBA SENIORS

Many people are not aware that Seba Seniors donate to several other charities/organizations each year.   This year we have donated to:

  • Entwistle School,
  • Tomahawk School,
  • Wabamun School,
  • Paul First Nation School,
  • STARS,
  • Wee Food Bank,
  • Parkland Food Bank,
  • Wabamun Christmas Food Hampers,
  • Wabamun Area Medical Society,
  • Seba Museum,
  • Seba Regatta, and
  • Camp He-Ho-Ha.

We care about our members and our community but also care about the good work of other organizations working so hard to make our lives the best they can be.  Happy Holidays and Happy New Year in 2024!

From us to you,
Cathie Duchesne
